GBoH goes to the far east. Six battles of Feudal Japan.
As you might expect from the cultural and temporal differences between
16th century Japan and republican Rome, there are many differences between
Samurai and SPQR:
- (2.2.1, 9.2.7) Unit type has no effect on attack superiority (although
the last paragraph would lead you to believe otherwise).
- (4.1 Charisma, 9.2.3) Leaders stacked with units can use their
Charisma to modify the unit's Pre-Shock Disruption Check.
- 4.3.2 Units at (Command range + 1) are still in command if adjacent to
an otherwise in-command unit.
- 4.4.1 Only overall commanders (So-Taisho) may trump.
- 4.5 Honjin effectively give a commander unlimited range.
- 4.6.4 Leaders must issue orders before they move.
- 5.1 Initiative and Continuity determine turn order, not command ratings
- 5.2 Clans must be activated to move/fire, either by So-Taisho or
enemy shock attack.
- 5.3 No line commands; leaders can give orders to all of their units within
command range (not limited by initiative rating).
- 5.3.5 Leaders in ZOC are normal except for halved command range for
orders-giving (but not shock) purposes.
- 5.4.3 Dieroll of Doom table is different (more like Deluxe
Alexander)
- 5.5.3, 5.5.4 # of trump attempts limited by so-taisho's trump
rating; no "Trumped/No Momentum" effect on bypassed leaders.
- 5.6, 5.7 Out Of Command Units and Contingent Coordination rules are
entirely new.
- 6.1.2, 6.1.4 No cohesion penalty for moving more than once per turn;
fire combat costs MPs.
- 6.3.4 Can't move next to enemy with last MP (except Kibamusha
using Norikuzushi).
- 6.4.1 Engaged units must shock attack or withdraw -- and withdrawal is
by clan, not unit.
- 6.4.3 Reaction Withdrawal is easier: all units can use it when approached
by enemy infantry. RW is harder: must take TQ check.
- 6.5 Stacking: Teppo/Yumi can stack; stacked AS/KB protect them during
shock. Take cohesion hits for exceeding stacking limits during move.
- To be continued....
