What to do with Leonatus depends a lot on what you're going to do with Pyrrhus. If Pyrrhus is going to head east, either this turn or the EIO phase next turn, then scooting Leonatus west doesn't make much sense. In this particular case, Leonatus cannot get far enough west to reach the phalanx (9 MPs + 3 Command Range = 12, but the PH is 13 hexes away), so I think that the majority are on the right track here.
I was surprised that only two people mentioned attacking with Leonatus. If he uses an IO to move himself to the skirmisher, he puts the LC in command range which can then zap the adjacent routed cohort. Then again, if he doesn't move at all then he can perform four recover/rally orders instead of three, so it gets back to the usual offensive vs defensive decision-making.
A popular, but illegal, suggestion, was to recover units that are in enemy ZOCs.
Routing, not shown: AS/VII LG h
In Pursuit: AS/XV Ex RC (w/ 4 hits)
One rally attempt succeeds -- though the unit is still hurting -- and one fails. Unfortunately, the failing unit has nowhere to go except through the phalanx, which takes a hit and then takes two more from a dr=9 TQ check!
(I can't seem to find my rules. Can someone verify that I resolved this correctly? I have a vague recollection that you can't rout through a phalanx. Thanks.)
Leonatus tries for Momentum. I won't even bother tallying the votes for this, as Laevinus is going to go next anyway. And with a dieroll of '6', it's all irrelevant anyway.
Current Rout Point totals:
| Side | Current | Limit | Pct | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Romans | 124 | 185 | 67% | |
| Epirotes | 53 | 120 | 44% |
So now Laevinus is up, then Pyrrhus, and then we're at the end of the turn. What should Laevinus do? Should he try for Momentum? If so, should Pyrrhus Trump?
