Turn 3: Philocles's 2nd Momentum

The voting:

Trump with Laevinus 2
Trump with Falco 3
No Trump 8

It's always nice to see such a large number of votes!

I'd throw my vote with the "Trump with Falco" crowd. Most of the folks voting "No Trump" mentioned the risks of failure, and in regards to Laevinus I agree. Even though Falco can't do much becaue of the MI facing him across the river, a successful trump shuts down the assault on the Roman left and give Cassius a chance to react.

But the people have spoken, and the Romans attempt no trump.

Philocles has a lot of options. He can rally and recover, setting up Leonatus to continue the assault, or go for an all-out attack himself with three units, or something in between:

Philocles's 2nd Momentum
Routing, not shown: AS/VII LG h
In Pursuit: AS/XV Ex RC (w/ 4 hits)

The majority of the voters wanted to rally the routed LC, so there's one point initiative expended. The rally succeeds (dieroll '1'). I've marked the TQ hits in parentheses because that unit has a Rally marker.

A significant minority wanted to recover the LC with two hits, but more were in favor of attacking with it, so that's where the second initiative point goes.

The third initiative point brings up the (only) unmoved HI to knock off a routed cohort. In addition to scoring victory points, it reestablishes a line of ZOC protecting the right flank of the phalanx. Not the Romans have much to throw in that direction....

Pre-Shock kill the routed units without incident to the Epirotes, and the melee between the engaged LC and flanked cohort routs the latter in spite of the dieroll of '0'. The LC breaks off, the other two attackers advance after combat, and Philocles is (finally!) Finished.

At this point the AS/XV legion is feeling decidedly unwell.

The Rout Point totals:
Side Current Limit Pct
Romans 85 185 46%
Epirotes 49 120 41%

Activated so far:
 Epirote: Pyrrhus (EIO), Milon, Philocles
 Roman: Plautius, Rebilus, Magnus, Drusus

Now it's the Roman's turn. The choices are Falco or Cassius. Who should it be and what should that leader do?

Mail me.
