Barasames continues to head south. Perhaps in light of Simmias's fate, he then provides Perozes with a bodyguard of Immortals.
He then orders an HC ambling near the front lines to attack the exposed CAT. This has the side effect of shielding two other HC from the CAT's missiles, allowing them to recover.
The melee bruises the Immortals badly but routs the CAT, which passes through the routed HI as it turns the corner for the safety of the city walls.
