Having cleared the top of the hill, the Byzantines under Bouzes now move to push the Persians away from the foot as well.
Two Byzantine units crash into three Persians. The already-routed Persian is killed during its Pre-Shock TQ Check, while the remaining units pass. That leaves a CAT vs LN and an HI vs LI melee, so the Byzantines have attack superiority in both cases. The defenders are hence easily routed while extracting the routine 2 hits on each attacker.
The CAT has actually taken more TQ hits from movement (+1 uphill, +1 downhill, +1 downhill) than from combat!
As the attackers advance, the LN that is the last of the Persian good order units on the wing rotates to protect its rear.
The Byzantines have finally pushed the Persians over their RP limit. It's funny how eliminating that one lowly TQ 4 is more important than, say, the two on-board routing Immortals. The army can stoically watch the cream of the Persian cavalry flee, but as soon as those skirmishers are eliminated, it folds. Uh-huh.
At any rate, this will be the last turn. ("And there was much rejoicing.")
Current Rout Point totals:
| Side | Current | Limit | Pct |
|---|---|---|---|
| Persians | 111 | 109 | 101% |
| Byzantines | 82 | 102 | 80% |
Bouzes tries for Momentum and gets it. Will the Persians attempt to Trump?
