Belisarius moves further south to get better control of his right flank. There, he recovers a frontline HI, rallies the routed cataphract, and orders forward some infantry from the center.
He then orders Simmias and his Huns (good name for a band?) to counterattack. His missile fire succeeds in routing the HC in 1726 (2nd hex from the bottom), so he pursues through the hole and shock attacks the now-routed HC along with the other HC routed last activation.
One of the HCs actually passes its Pre-Shock Check, but Simmias easily eliminates the now-single HC in shock combat, and advances.
The "Immortals" are perhaps proving themselves misnamed, as the Byzantines have racked up 14 more RPs against the Persians. Only 16 more RPs and it's Game Over.
Current Rout Point totals:
| Side | Current | Limit | Pct |
|---|---|---|---|
| Persians | 93 | 109 | 85% |
| Byzantines | 45 | 102 | 44% |
Belisarius has now had three activations this turn, so he's Finished. The Persians had the last initiative-5 Activation, so it's now Bouzes's turn.
Hmm, thinking about it now, I did make an error last move, though it's not the one that a couple of the Persians wrote to tell me about. They were concerned that the move-through-the-routed-unit should've eliminated the routed unit for taking another cohesion hit. I had spent some time pouring through the rules puzzling the situation out when resolving the move, and I maintain that I resolved the orders correctly. Rule [10.25], 4th bullet, says the "Rout-moving units do not incur movement Cohesion Hits", which is a little vague (what about "rout moved-through" units?) but then the last bullet item says that rout units that receive hits when attacked are eliminated, which seems pretty definitive.
Now the error that I did make is that Bouzes is Wounded, so all his stats are reduced by one . . . including Initiative, which should've put him activating when Pitames did (i.e. as an Initiative 4 leader), not now when the 5s are going. Oh well, I'm not going to go back now, but I'll try to remember for next turn.
