A.John prepares for an attack against the Persian cavalry's exposed flank, but the missile fire from the attack LIs routs the Persian before shock can begin.
A.John then sends himself and the nearby reserve MI south, and recovers the midmost HI in the front line. Usually the enemy bow-armed LC would prevent recovery, but they're Missile No (as are the HI, for that matter).
Now with the nearly the whole wing in range, A.John orders a general counterattack. There are no Pre-Shock checks as no one has moved.
The dice are not overly kind, and the low shock column numbers (Trench hexsides, size ratios of 3:7) are no help either. Most attacks result in 3(2), with a few 2(2)s to keep the ref on his toes.
A half-dozen units take Post-Shock Collapse checks, but everyone passes (which is why it looks like some units took only one hit).
One Byzantine TQ7 CAT routs, but in return two Persian TQ7 HCs flee, in addition to the TQ6 HC routed by missile fire.
Current Rout Point totals:
| Side | Current | Limit | Pct |
|---|---|---|---|
| Persians | 53 | 109 | 49% |
| Byzantines | 31 | 102 | 30% |
Then A.John tries for Momentum, and naturally the high dierolls come out: '7'. On to Perozes.
