Belisarius's Activation

Turn 7: Belisarius's Activation

Belisarius Trumps, and we see quite a bit of action. From north to south:

Pharas routs the point of the Persian LN wedge. The adjacent LN does a Reaction Facing Change as the Heruli advance.

The unengagaed HC moves to the hilltop to mop up two LNs with one attack, but he takes three hits in doing so (moving again, uphill twice) and so reaches the heights with 6 hits against his TQ7. The routed unit fails the Pre-Shock Check, but the good order LN stands tough. After missile fire and a 2(3) melee result, both sides exceed their TQ by the same amount! The deciding factor is that the Cataphract would have to take another hit to move downhill after advancing and so under [10.26] he loses the tiebreaker. I don't think I've ever seen that clause of the rules in action before....

Bouzes easily drives off the Saracens, but with 6 hits even a TQ8 unit starts to look shaky.

Belisarius then moves south and mops up the Persian HC which had the temerity to cross the ditch.

Belisarius tries for Momentum and fails (the Byzantines being aghast but unsurprised, I bet). Over to Perozes.

Current Rout Point totals:
Side Current Limit Pct
Persians 37 109 34%
Byzantines 23 102 23%
