07/27/08: Here is a new pic of a bound kitty. She cat girl has proven difficult to tame, but perhaps she just needs a good master with a firm yet gentle hand?

Introduction:

Greetings fellow furry toon lovers! Welcome to Rave's Toony world. I'm known on the Internet as the anthro artist - Rave or Ravewolf. My work still has a long way to go but some folks are already enjoying what I have managed to squeeze out of my mind. This page is intended to help those already enjoying my work view the latest work with ease even when the file sizes are too big for uploading to Usenet etc. The sections are only updated occasionally, but this front page is updated more often. Though I do run late sometimes.

Requests:

I no longer take art requests. I also no longer take commissions for the time being. I'm rather sorry about this. I used to enjoy doing requests and commissions. But, these days, my work is more complex all the time and it therefore takes a very long time to complete images. It would feel wrong to do a lesser image just to fulfill a request in a timely fashion. Lately, I'm trying to make every new pic a worthwhile effort as I struggle to improve my work. I have not been working hard enough relative to others who have been producing material for the genre for roughly the same amount of time as I have. I have fallen behind my peers far too much. It's time to work harder and that means less time for requests. Sorry, but that's where my efforts are at this point. I may be open to art trades sometimes, but please be understanding if I don't have time to do one. Anyway, here are some things you won't see in my art, so please don't suggest or recommend them to me:

1. No minors depicted, anthro or otherwise.

3. No scat/watersports.

4. No satire art that is used to mock a group's race, nationality or religion.

5. No herms.

6. No gigantism style images. (No megaboobs, big hanging guts or gigantic cocks etc.)

7. No song lyrics written by other people included in the margins of my pics. (Though I may include lines or poems that I wrote myself.)

8. No ipod parodies.

No offense to those who draw such things, I just don't happen to draw that stuff myself. Everything else is ok for my art. Well, mostly anyway. I don't tend to draw penetration or other XXX elements. As such my work is relatively tame by Internet standards. Take it or leave it I guess. However, my comics may include some rougher adult themes involving violence and such for story telling purposes.

This next section is for the really bored people who want to read silly rant-filled thoughts on the following subjects.

About the Artist and a Word on the Fandom and Its Art

I am a young professional living in Northern Virginia U.S.A. and working in the largest law firm to have its headquarters in the City of Washington D.C. I am a type of specialist who works on litigation, anti-trust cases and criminal investigations. It's a stressful job in a demanding environment. "Anthro" art is a fun way to unwind and maybe give some fans of anthropomorphic images some stuff they can enjoy in the process. I mostly create art for the love of doing so. I don't think my work is worth any less because of that. I make plenty of money and to spare in my line of work. It's great not having to scrounge for art commissions or try to be an animator or background artist while watching seemingly all the animation jobs go off to other countries. I don't think I ever wanted to turn pro when it comes to art. I also don't think I'm an animal or that I have an animal spirit living inside me. I don't wear a tail to work or to conventions. I don't dream of the day when human/animal cross breeds can be gengineered and I don't have a special relationship with a plush doll. I just enjoy drawing anthros. That's not a swipe against the beliefs or perspectives of others. I just don't happen to be into the lifestyle stuff. I'm just an artist and I don't go to conventions or have a close relationship with any of the fandoms, anthro or otherwise.

I have great respect for all the artists out there striving for excellence and hopefully tasteful yet fun fantasy images too. Speaking of respect, while I know artists are sometimes also annoying fanboys/girls themselves regardless of their skills, anyone who thinks we drawers of cartoonily cute fluffy animals are all soft geeks who can't cope with reality haven't seen me at my workplace kicking ass to get stuff done. I get a nice big dose of concentrated reality every day. I have lived all over the world and have developed many valuable memories outside of the world of art. Many of the anthro artists I know can claim similar life experiences. So please forget the stereotypes and just enjoy the art.

I started drawing relatively late in life. In other words, unlike many artists, I did not start during childhood. Before my teens, I could not draw a straight line. So please be understanding if my work is not comparable to the great artists of the fandom as yet. I like to think I now fall somewhere between the way cool artists and the doodlers of stick figures that all us aspiring artists used to be at one time. I could have spent all my time learning the finer points of drawing, but instead, I worked hard on building a career and having a social life. I don't apologize for making that choice. I think it was the best one for me. But lately, I am trying to get back to art a bit while still finding time for those other important things in life.

A Word on Content and Adult Art

Though most of my images are pretty tame to say the least, you may occasionally see more adult material here. I feel it's both honest and artistically valid to fully explore the possibilities of characters in ways that go beyond Disney-style restrictions openly on the net as opposed to leaving that material hidden away in a sketch book somewhere. I mean, let's face it, young or getting older, male or female, it seems like almost every other anthropomorphic artist out there has at least tried an "erotic" doodle or two. Is it SO important too keep them under wraps and hidden away? Even a lot of the Yerf artists just shove their adult stuff onto VCL or other archives, but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Yet to hear some tell it, you are no longer a "good" artist the moment you draw a character with bedroom eyes and slightly less clothing than your last character art piece. Heck, it is only in America where people seem totally convinced that cartoon = for kids, and even here that is a development that has only happened over the last forty years or so. But that's a rant for another time.....

Not that I have any illusions about it. After all, I also happen to enjoy drawing cute anthropomorphic characters doing adult things. For me though, there is a difference between what is tastefully adult and what is simply X-Rated for its own sake and for the sake of catching the attention of the lowest common denominator on the Net. Sexual imagery for example can be as wondrous, beautiful and worthwhile as any other theme. Rest assured, if you see something on this page, it's because I really felt like drawing it or was at least curious about the theme and not because I figured some drooling fan wanted to see it. I know many erotic anthro artists claim the opposite on their pages. But frankly, at least some of them are lying through their teeth too. I have interviewed artists for articles and such and it seems to me that under all the claims about how fans force you to draw erotic material, there are artists who would probably continue to draw such material (though admittedly much less of it) even if no fans had ever existed. That said, yes the fans could do with less obsession over adult themed work. And yes, we artists deserve a chance at getting some recognition for drawing more than tits, ass and cock. I think too many folks confuse "erotic" with "this theme must immediately arouse me or it is not really erotic.". I don't draw to make you physically excited per se. I drew this or that thing more often than not because I thought it looked pretty. And adult elements happen to look rather nice sometimes. I like to think that's not such a terrible thing.

The sudden growth of the net has connected us all in remarkable ways as fans and artists around the world. It has also continued to introduce fresh young people to the fact that they are not alone in their taste for anthropomorphics related material. Let's treat them fairly and respectfully before they are scared off by all the flame wars and maybe this little art community will flourish well into this new millennium for everyone's benefit. Besides, some of these new folks are better artists at age 15 than some of us are at age 27.

I'm sorry if my views offend anyone out there. But I'm not sorry for expressing them.

Look for art updates here and other fun features to come in the near future!
