About time I updated this listing. Guess it just slipped through the cracks of my last major renovation. Anyway, this is a rather large and busy set. The main base of the set is a large two level platform, tan on the bottom level, with a green upper level. A track runs from the upper level to the lower level, and underneath the set as well, on which runs the train you see here, with a driver car, a three seater passenger, and a brown cargo car. What goes in the cargo car? Lots of food for the animals, of course! The set came with 4 pieces of food, which are really plastic pieces shaped as a square, triangle, circle,or oval, showing different food lithos, such as meat and fruit. (Pictures of all the food are available in my FAQ area, on my patriot.net mirror) Four of the animals' pens have correspondingly shaped depressions, so you can assure that the proper food goes into the proper animals' dens.

The animals that come with this set are very different from Fisher Price animals that come with any other Little People set. All the zoo animals are made of light plastic, and are molded from one piece. They don't have any jointed arms or legs, and they have no painted-on features. If you didn't know exactly what you were looking for, you wouldn't know these animals went with the zoo if you just saw them lying around. Pictures of all the zoo animals are currently, or will shortly be available on my FAQ pages to help you identify them. Some of the many animals that the set came with include a vulture, several monkeys, several parrots, a seal, a baby hippo, a lion cub, a mountain goat, a gorilla, and an elephant. An adult hippo is built into the top of the set, a button located on the track causes that hippo to open his mouth when the train passes. An adult lion is built into one of the lower dens. The seal on the extreme left of this picture is perched on a small peg that can be rotated with a thin knob, causing the seal to move around.

On the upper half of the set, you can just make out a tree inside an orange animal house. The tree and the house are both seperate pieces. The tree has several "branches" on which can hang either the parrots or the monkeys.

The set also came with 5 people, a family of four and a "park ranger", as well as a picnic table. Geez, I think I've written more about this set than any other set EVER. But, it's a busy set, with a lot of detail, and needs a lot of description. If I've missed anything, feel free to let me know!
