Music Box Lacing Shoe

One of the early "shoe" series of toys from Fisher-Price. The sole, tounge, and roof of the toy are solid wood. The wheels and body of the shoe are plastic. The shoe did originally come with a red and white striped lace that laced up the holes alongside the tounge of the shoe. Lifting up the toe of the shoe reveals a litho of two kids and a dog in a bed, with three holes in which the three little people that came with the set could ride. The set came with three of the short straight-bodied early style little people.

The body of the shoe is made of clear plastic, mostly covered with a litho, but with several clear windows. The windows reveal lithos pasted on to a metal cylinder inside the inaccessible body of the shoe. Turning the knob on the top of the shoe winds up the music box, and while the music box plays, the inside metal cylinder rotates, revealing the various lithos of kids hanging around inside the shoe. Pretty ingenious design, eh?
