Rattle Mola

This mola represents rattles which in addition to being a play toy for babies are used to mark time in ritual Kuna Indian ceremonies. It was made to be worn as part of a blouse. The background design consists of vertical slits in the channel applique style where a slit is made in the top fabric and a piece of contrasting fabric inserted and then using needleturn applique the edges are finished off.
