Panamanian Election Mola

This bird mola is a good example of politically inspired molas. It is a reproduction of a campaign ad for the election for President. The flag of the Republic of Panama is also stitched twice on the mola to fill in space. Kunas participate in Panamanian elections and government but they also have their own autonomous tribal government and their own flag. Kuna women never leave empty spaces on their mola designs, to do so would be considered poor workmanship.
