Coconut Tree

Coconuts are the cash crop of the Kuna Indians. At birth, each child is given coconut trees that they keep for life. They trade coconuts, primarily with Colombians, in return, they may get cash or bartered items like Cayuco (canoe) hulls, food items that they can’t grow themselves, or beads and sewing items like needles and scissors. Many molas depict the theme of coconuts and this is just one of them.
