Hello to all from Charlottesville! I have have been having problems with the guest book freezing my computer, so didn't see the references to C'ville until a few days ago. I enjoyed chatting with Mike Davis on the downtown mall this past Saturday. His sharp eyes spotted and recognized me having dinner with some friends (at my favorite restaurant, Bizou, if you want a recommendation). If anyone else is passing through town, give me a yell and we can try to meet up for lunch or dinner or at least a hello. Peter, I hear you saw Jane Tzudiker and met her husband, Phil. We had a great, but far to brief, visit with them too. They were hoping to enjoy our pool, but it was 60 degrees and raining! boo hoo. So today is sunny and hot, and here I am in my windowless building. boo hoo again. Here's hoping for a hot sunny weekend! Cheers, Sandy

Now that the summer is on the heat and the winds are blowing the way of the east. Let us all say what is on our minds. b for now. Suzianna

Suzanne be sure to visit the Taos Pueblo and then poke your head into the mission church right in the center of Taos. It's very beautiful and simple. Georgia O'Keefe made it famous with her painting.Have fun!!

Pat- We do love that area and are ALMOST looking forward to the time we retire there. It's funny but I was thinking of all of you this weekend. I was at a party attended by a young lady I used to work with, her recently married sister, sister's husband, parents and grandparents. At one point I was talking to the grandmother and asked if she lived in the area. "Yes, Mt. Vernon." Oh, I went to high school at MVH. "So, did my daughter and both of my granddaughters". She took me over to her daughter and told her, and I found out she graduated in 1964 and was a good friend of Mr and Mrs Landes' daughter Paula-having gone to HS and college with her. Later, I found out the young lady I used to work with had recently moved, but had worked in Charlottesville and lived in the same subdivision where we now have a home. I've always said it is a small world and it became a running joke how much we all had in common. Later the newlwed daughter was commenting about our having graduated from the same school. I asked when she graduated and she said 1995. I told her there was no way I knew anyone fom her class, and then her husband asked when I graduated fom MV. When I told him, he said, "Oh, that was the year I was born." That's when I laughted and told them I had to go talk to someone else, I was started to feel REALLY OLD!

Mike, you are so lucky to have plans to retire near Charlottesville! It is so pretty there, with so many things to do, and yet in 15 minutes you can be truly out in the country. It just has a charm all its own. Speaking of cleaning out closets, I recently found an old clipping from the Wash Star about Cliff Roop's heroics in our football win over Ft Hunt our senior year. Of course, now I can't find it, but when I do I'll put a couple of highlights on the Guest Book (VERY brief, John, don't worry!)

Hello, all and Paul Stuckey too! I remember you, we were in Mr. Groves PE class in 10th grade. It was a great class and good that you found us after all these years! Pat, I agree that Charlottesville and Central Va are beautiful in the spring time. It is really beautiful year round. Ann and I bought a house there (outside of Charlottesville)last year and enjoy the different seasons. We thought it would be a wonderful place to retire someday. Retirement seems a long time off, but I think that time will come sooner than I realize! We keep running into people that have moved there from Northern VA. A couple of months ago, we saw a couple there that Ann went to high school with. They went to UVA and law school and decided to stay there. Now, I need to get in touch with Sandy sometime soon and see about getting together with her. Anyway...the reason I thought about the Guest Book today is, I was going through some things in the basement and ran across our programs from the Baccalaureate Service and our Commencement Exercises. Reading them really brought back memories and reminded me that our reunion is just around the corner! Looking forward to getting in touch with all of you again!

Hi Frank and Gary: Yes, I am still playing Music, and have a couple websites promoting a CD I made, and everything is going well. I visited that area a couple of times after moving, and was surprised to find how congested with traffic and houses, etc., it has become!! I moved to Michigan in 1979, and have lived here since. I was wondering if there is an online copy or website of the MVHS yearbook available for viewing. Thanks Paul

I think it would be a shame to close the site. As we approach the next reunion there will be more activity and it will encourage people to come to the reunion. I am like the others who don't check the site very often, but definitely sign me up for what ever it takes to keep it going. I thought that with all 4 kids out of the house I would be bored, but i am busier than ever. I am back into tennis 3 days a week, and help run a Broward county men's league. I have two kids with homes in Orlando, so we are in Orlando every third weekend. My oldest keeps talking about getting pregnant, but not yet. I am jealous of classmates with grandchildren. That's an event I am anxiously awaiting.

Hi all it is kind of nice to get in that reliable ole "betzie". Even just to be taken on a short trip as a tourist or a well seasoned travel. How were the Seneca's and the Highlands in Caanan, John? Did you happen to the cross country Lodge and see Chipper while on your visit? Yeah for another reunion and just to read sometimes we have shared our sorrows and well wishes. Makes it seem that we may have gleaned a bit more and may even encourage someone without even knowing that it may have. Plan to contribute to the pot is it still at the end of the rainbow? Suzanne H

Hi likewise it is good to ride in that car with those old tunes. Sometimes just to go and observe and see what others are doing. Then in those quiet little country stores to smell something yummy baking or simmering. John hope you got a chance to see ole Chipper at Caanan's cross country place. Would like to go there before the winter is over. Keep it going I will send in a pledge. SH

John, put me down for $25.00. Just let me know how to get it to you. I also have not been very active in the guest book the last couple of years due to my work and travel. Blame it on Saddam & UBL!! They have impacted all of us at some time or another.

Count me in for my $'s too! I may not always write, but I always read. I like the connection. Oh and for you car people. David bought (from a friend at work) an 87 Monte Carlo that he is restoring. He stripped it, sanded it, bonded it, and primed it himself. We just got it back from being shot a beautiful Dark Concord Blue, with black stripes on hood, truck, and spoiler. It is beautiful! Now to start the inside. He bought a new engine and the stuff that goes with it (don't ask me what)in December. But I think is going to start the interior next. He was hoping a father son project, but now our oldest lives in Tennessee and our youngest, with our granddaughter (who is now 13 months old), is moving to NC next Friday. But the good news is that they will only be about 15 minutes from my sister. So I'll be taking many road trips to NC from now on. Again count me in on money to keep this going. -- Beth

While I haven't been as active on this site as I was "back in the day" (where now "the day" refers to times around the early reunions) I must admit I'd certainly feel there was something missing in the world were it to vanish. It's nice to know I have some way of throwing words out into cyber MV when the mood hits. And as Sandy says, I think interest picks up around reunion time. We can't spend our entire lives trading memories of high school days, but it's nice to feel that there is still some contact with the people. And a place to get news about former teachers & classmates. Just the presence is worth something. I don't think that weeks with no entries means the site has not felt useful. The analogy that comes to mind is riding in a car with someone you know well and are comfortable with. Sometimes you don't have to talk. But it's nice to know that person's there. Count me in on the money pile.

John, et al., I was going to say that with the decline in guest book "activity" lately, that maybe it's time to let it go. But then, I took a moment to go to the archives and after seeing how much it picked up before the 25th and 30th reunions, it's probably worth it to renew. The next reunion is just around the corner, so maybe folks will start checking in more often. So I'm happy to contribute again to keep it going. ss

Gang, the year subscription to this site ends in February. I will need at least $180 to make it go another year. That means only 18 patrons at $10 apiece, 9 at $20, etc. I realize that I haven't spent much effort on the site in the past year, or properly acknowledged last year's patrons, but I really don't have the time these days to keep this site hopping. In any event, if we get enough interest to continue, I will keep it running. If you'd like to be a patron, email your pledge to me soon. Don't mail any money to me until I find out if there is enough pledged. I will notify the pledging patrons when I get enough pledges. I would hope that we can spread out the cost between enough patrons so no one spends more than $25.00. If there is not enough interest, I can move this site to my other account, but it will not have a Guest Book that can be written to. I won't be able to respond to any emails this weekend. I'm going to Timberline to test my new ski parka. I will respond when I get back. I hope we get enough interest to keep in touch.

Sandy, I too am so saddened to hear about your Dad and hope you are doing OK and finding the support you need to deal with this. You are also in my prayers. Parents are very special and so important in children's lives. That's how I hope all kids think anyways... My own Dad will turn 93 in April and was finally given the pleasure of viewing the Red Sox winning the World Series in front of a television set in a nursing home. In fact he was born the same year and month the park was built (1912)..May the joys of the holiday seaon be with all classmates throughout the 2005 year.
