CLEMENT NANCE, son of Giles Nance and Mary (or Nancy) Malone, was born February 27, 1773 in Bedford County, Virginia, and died November 18, 1843 in Newberry, SC. He married ELIZABETH SANDERS GILLIAM September 11, 1800, daughter of William Gilliam and Ann Sims.

Child of Clement Nance and Elizabeth Gilliam is:
i. NANCY SIMS NANCE, b. June 23, 1809, South Carolina probably; d. June 14, 1881, Coweta County, Georgia - Turin Tranquil Cemetery.
She married WILLIAM BAUGH SHELL October 23, 1827, son of Harmon Shell and
Martha Epps. William Baugh Shell was one of the Georgia delegates who signed the ordinance for Georgia's secession from the Union. The pen with which he signed is still in the Shell family.
