Aaron Crouch married Lucy Clark Abt 1808 in Shelburne,
Chittenden Co, VT. He was in the census there in 1810 and 1830
in the town of Shelburne. In the 1840 census he was in same
county only in town of Charlotte. He was not in 1850 census so
I assume he died.
He was in the War of 1812 from Vermont. He was the father of
my grgrgrandmother Betsey Crouch who married Miles Morgan
Sheldon in VT, moved to NY, and MN after the Civil War.
Did your Aaron Crouch, son of Aaron, move to VT? Thanks, Susan

From: Daniel Rosen <rosen@wadsworth.org>
Visited your Crouch genealogy pages. I am interested in the
marriage of Arthur Crouch (immigrant William's son) and Elizabeth
Underwood. In the info you posted, it says Arthur was b. "abt 1670". At
another place, it says that he and his brother were with their father
William in King Philip's War in 1676. Quite a feat for a six year old boy.
I imagine he threw an awful scare into the savages!
Seems likely to me that Arthur was b. in the 1650's. This would
make him 17-25 years of age in King Philip's War, which seems more
reasonable. Also, Elizabeth Underwood was b. "abt 1656", as far as I can
figure (her alleged mother died in 1658, so she could not have been b.
later than this). I have a record of a marriage between Arthur Crouch (and
it seems like he is the only one with this name at that time and location)
to an Elizabeth Underwood ("of Watertown, MA") in Mar 1682, from the
Chelmsford Vital Records. As far as I can determine, there is only one
Elizabeth of the correct age and "of Watertown" that fits (although I admit
that it is possible that I am incorrect about this).

I am trying to find out which line of Crouches my grandmother, Vera Grace Crouch descended from. She was the daughter of Charles Augustus Crouch (1873). Charles was the son of John Luman Crouch (1839). John was the son of Ephraim Crouch (1811) Ephraim was the son of Amos Crouch (1769). Amos was the son of John Crouch (1729). John and Amos moved to Chesterfield NH in 1802-3 from MA. I don't know where they were before that. There are cemeteries and old foundations in the woods of Chesterfield that belonged to the Crouch families. If you are interested in this line please contact me. Thanks. Eleanor Crouch and I did a book on the Desc. of William Crouch
of Charlestown, MA. If anyone needs a lookup just email me.
Also, still collecting information on new lines.
And, I have all the Crouch Researchers that Glenn Crouch

all to me. It is not indexed so it is hard to find people but
perhaps someone will take the time to index it and then it will
be more useful.
I miss Glenn alot. He had become a good friend. If I can help

Seems his father was not from Vermont, but from NY. My wife is a descendant of this line, her

Hi Steve:
Here is what I have on Rial and Ann Clark Crouch.
Rial born 1803 in NY Married about 1826/27 probably in Town of Sodus, Ontario
Co. NY Died 7 Apr 1869 in Casco, Allegan Co. MI - we think he was living with
son Uriah Buried: Crouch Cemetery, Dearborn MI, about 1927 the remains of
the people in the cemetery were moved to the Romulus Cemetery. Don't know
what happened to the marble stones in the Crouch Cemetery. The cemetery was
on his property and when they developed the area the town of Dearborn moved
those buried there. I have a feeling that there were more than what was
accounted for.
Wife, Ann/Anna Clark
Born 1805
Died 1851 in Dearborn Twp. Wayne Co. MI, Buried in Crouch Cemetery, moved to
Romulus
Children:
1. Hannah, Born 20 Dec 1827 in Sodus, Ontario Co. NY (my grgrgrandmother),
Married William Carter 11 Oct 1852 in Romulus, Wayne Co. MI, Died 15 Apr 1901
Glenn (Casco), Allegan Co. MI Buried in McDowell Cemetery Glenn MI
2. Matilda, Born 1828 in Sodus, Ontario Co. NY, Married Stephen Williamson
23 Mar 1849 in Dearborn, Wayne Co. MI, Died 1895 buried in Romulus Cemetery
3. Mary, Born 1830 in Sodus, Wayne Co. NY (the Co changed to Wayne), Died
1855, Buried in Romulus Cemetery
4. Uriah, Born 1832 in Sodus, Wayne Co. NY, Married Clarissa Eliza?,
Haven't found any more on him.
5. Ezra, Born 1833-4 Sodus, Wayne Co. NY, Died 1854, buried in Romulus
Cemetery
6. Sarah A. Born 11 May 1835, Sodus, Wayne Co. NY, Married Abraham Carter 17
Jan 1853 in Dearborn, Wayne Co. MI, Abraham was a brother to William, my
grgrgrandfather, Died 21 Dec 1906 in Glenn(Casco), Allegan Co. MI, Buried
McDowell Cemetery, Glenn MI
7. Electra A. Born 1837 in NY, Married someone by the name of Bakely,
Nothing else found on her, Rial was in Erie Co. NY in the 1840 census so I
don't know where Electra and the next children were born.
8. Julia A. Born 1839 in NY, Married someone by the name of Riggs
9. James M. Born 1841 in NY, Married Louisa A. Stetson, Died 3 Oct 1903 in
Belleville MI, Buried Hillside Cemetery Belleville MI
10. George Born 1843 in NY
11. William Born 1845 in NY, The 1870 census I found had this William Crouch
in Ann Arbor MI and he was 24 so I assumed that it was our William. They
were living with a Felch widow and I figures it would have been his mother in
law. Do you know where he was in 1870?
12. Martha Born in 1848 in MI, Married Harrison Runyan, Died in 1911 and
buried in Romulus Cemetery, Then Ann died in 1851. In the Index to the
Divorce Records, Wayne County Courts, Wayne County MI 1828-1859 there was
"Rial Crouch vs. Jane Crouch. Bill filed 22 November 1853. Married Jan 1853.
Cruelty and drunkenness. No decree.
Then we have a Allice Crouch born in 1854 in the 1860 MI census. So it looks
like he remarried and then had another child with the second wife. Have no
idea what happened to either of them.
We theorize that Rial's father was James Crouch but no actual proof. Also
that Charles Crouch was a brother to Rial. Using census records we figure
there were at least 10 brothers and sisters to Rial. I hadn't really done
much on the Crouch line until last fall and then we went to Florida for three
months and I am trying to figure out where I am at. I have also found the
name to be Crouch/Chrouch. Have you sent for the Civil War Pension records?
Hope this helps. If there is anything else I can help with or look up, let
me know. Look forward to hearing from you.

Crouch Family in Southwestern PA

Looking for information on Elisha and Elizabeth (Neal) Crouch of
Washington and Fayette County, PA. Elisha was born 1802, died
December 24, 1882 in Washington County, PA. I have reason to
believe his father's name was Elijah, possibly born in VA. The
1810 Census for Fayette County, Luzerne Township, PA lists and
ELIJAH CROUCH, but he is not found on the 1800 or 1820 Census
for PA. Elisha had a brother, Benedict, born 1800 near
Jefferson, Greene County, PA; sister, Mary; brother, Stephen.
There may have been others, but I haven't found anything on them.
According to Boyd Crumrine's "History of Washington County",
these four siblings all lived into their eighties. I am at a
standstill on Elijah - there is no record on him at the
Washington County Courthouse, but I do have a copy of the Will
of Elisha. Does anyone have any information on the Crouches in
Pennsylvania? Somewhere along the line, we are connected to
Robert Crouch, who came from Maryland with a colony and settled
in what is now South Strabane Township, Washington County, PA in
the late 1760's or early 1770's. His wife, at the time of his
death in 1798, was Sara. His son, William, born 1776 at Linden
Fort, PA, married Elizabeth McIlvaine (daughter of George and
Ruth McIlvaine); and son, John, married Mary McIlvaine (also
daughter of George and Ruth McIlvaine). I can account for
William, but there's not a trace for John, other than he had 10
children, the oldest being Robert. If anyone has additional
information on either of these lines, I'd be very interested in
hearing from you. Please e-mail me at klstringer@zoominternet.net.

Elijah Crouch, VA-TN-PA?

Time: Mon, 01-Apr-2002 11:23:00 GMT
I've been trying to find my 3rd great grandfather, Elijah
Crouch. Known children of his are Benedict, Elisha, Stephen and
Mary. Benedict was born 1800, Elisha born 1802. In the 1770's,
most of southwestern Pennsylvania was claimed by Virginia, this
being the District of West Augusta, VA. I have found an Elijah
Crouch on the 18l0 Census for Luzerne Township, Fayette County,
PA with the following: 2 males less than l0; l male 10-16; l
male 26-45; l female less than l0; 2 females 10-16; l female 26-
45. Could this possibly be Elijah and Mary (Ellis) Crouch?
Elijah does not appear on 1800 census or 1820 census anywhere in
PA. You mentioned that your Elijah died in Tennessee, which may
account for the fact that I cannot find him here.
If you should find anything more on Elijah Crouch, could you possibly
contact me? Maybe there might be a connection here. My e-mail
is klstringer@zoominternet.net.
Thanks,
Kathleen Crouch Stringer

Hi, Have posted a new message. My father Houston b. 1800 in
Washington County. His father was Elisha Crouch Jr. Elisha Sr.
was the son of Elijah Crouch , but I do not know from where. It
was said that Elisha Sr. came here by pack horse, I know one of
his sons was born in Jefferson, Greene County, Pa. Family first
names: Elijah, Elisha , Stephen, Benedict, Mary, Isaac T. ,
James, Sarah, John, William, Adah, Mary Ann, Thomas, Nathan,
Hirman, Elizabeth,, Bennett, Nesbit, S. Bentley, Hudson,
Allison, Clyde, just some of them. I think they may of came from
Va. or W. Va. , since part of what was Va. became W.Va. Would
love to hear from any one with Crouch blood so we can see if any
thing matches on what I have found Thanks, Bev

I am trying to find long lost relatives. I was wondering if you had history on your family tree as far back as the year 1779 an through the 1800's. My father's Grandparents were William and Sophia (Carter) Crouch. Sophia was born in Virginia, they lived their lives in New Carlisle, Ohio an later move to Mount Vernon, Ohio. William had 10 brothers and sisters: Nancy Jane, John Merit, Pleasy, Elizabeth, Polly, Robert Brown, William Stuart, James Johnston, Rhoda Ann, Martha, AND Sarah Ellen. Could you please reply back to me and let me know if you have any knowledge of the Crouch families in Ohio as being your relation. Williams father was Daniel M. Crouch who married Elizabeth (Brown) Crouch. Daniel and Elizabeth were born in1815.

James Crouch married Lear Wells and had descendants. I am one.
He lived in (#West Virginia?), Ohio, and Indiana, in the 1800's.
The Crouch family was supposed to be from Wales, in the 1700's.
Thanks,
Charles

James C. Crouch Maryland-Ohio, Thursday 6-Jan-2000
I am looking for Crouch's who lived in Ohio around 1880 and earlier. James C. Crouch was born in Ohio on July 17th 1818 and married a Mary A. Crawford in Columbiana Co. Ohio on Feb. 20th 1837. I do not know who his brothers were or father and mother were but found in census records that his father and mother were born in Md I assume that is Maryland and Mary's parents were born in MD and NY. James C. Crouch had 12 children as follows: Bethena C. Crouch DOB 7-15-1838 Gerusa J. Crouch DOB 8-9-1839 Andrew Crouch DOB 2-6-1842 Amanda Crouch DOB 2-11-1844 William R. Crouch DOB 1-25-1846 Hiram F. Couch DOB 1848 John. B Crouch DOB 1848 James Henry Crouch DOB 7-13-1851.Elmer E. Crouch DOB 9-23-1853 Mary E. Crouch DOB 8-2-1856 Martha E. Crouch DOB 2-17-1859 Frank M. Crouch DOB 11-16-1861. I would be interested in finding family members of any of his children to see if they can help me trace back into the 1600's or 1700's. I believe they are of English decent maybe some German also. I would have to think they were of a Farming back ground too. Thanks for any help or knowledge you might be able to share.

I am attempting to search my Crouch family tree. I am currently
stuck at my grandfather (George Nelson Crouch). My father's name
is Ira Wesley Crouch. I believe my grandfather was born around
September 20, 1866. He lived most of his life in or around
Thorntown, Indiana. He was married twice, in the first he had 12
children and the second he had 2 more (Ira & Bertha). I don't
know his first wife's name, but his second wife's name (my
grandmother) is Louise. George Nelson Crouch died in Cincinnati,
Ohio on May 26, 1953, at the age of 86(approx.).
Anyone who has any information on George Nelson Crouch and his
family please contact me. It would help me greatly on
researching my family tree.
THANK YOU

NEBRASKA

My grandparents were Amy Ethel Gard and Garten Griffin Green, the son of John
Davis Green and Mahala Wheeldon who m. in Indiana.
John and Mahala's oldest daughter was Sarah Elizabeth Green, m to Reuben B.Powell. They had twelve children all born in Powell, Nebraska.

Inez Powell, one of the twelve, married Willard Crouch and had three
children, Eva Lucille Crouch, Hazel Virginia Crouch, and Lloyd Harley Crouch.

Capla, Ok, Jacksonville, Duval Co, Fl, High Point, Guilford Co,NC, Lake
Johnson, Clay Co,Fl, Helvey, Ne, Powell Ne, De Funiak Springs, Walton
Co. Fl all play a part in the places the three children lived.

I'd like to know who and where John Davis Green's ancestors
were.

Your patience in following this story
is greatly appreciated and any help you might offer will be most helpful.
Thank you!
degpag@aztecfreenet.org (Don Green)

Mr. Green also wrote:
Sir, this is a long way around but let me explain. Mr g/father Garten
Green had a sister Sarah Elizabeth Green m to Rueben B Powell who founded and
settled Powell, Ne. One of Sarah's daughters, Inez Powell m Willard Crouch and
had three children. Eva Lucille, b 1-17-1902, Hazel Virginia b 9-20-03
and Lloyd Harley Crouch b 11-15-1906.

I have hit the brick wall in trying to find info for the Green family back
of Gartens father John Davis Green of In. When you type in Google the
name of Sarah Elizabeth Green you will see info for Mehala Wheeldon and
a Nancy Smith Towns who is a descendant of Sarah Green. By following the
messages we see that one of the family visited a Delmer Powell in Ne. in
1983 and went on to visit cousins in Winner, SD. Here is my thinking, If
I can find a family member by the name of Crouch and or Powell it may lead
me back to Sarah Green and thus to her grandparents. I suspect Nancy
Smith Towns has that info also.

Let say thanks in advance and any consideration you might give me will
be greatly appreciated. I will be happy to share what info I have.
