My introduction/instructions for use of this page have been moved, as I
guess people don't need them anymore. They were circa Feb. 1996. You can read them if you want.

U.S. Tax Code in Cross-Referencing, Searchable Hypertext from Switzerland. January 1994 edition. The editor explains that it is "parsed" with "heuristics" and "kludges" and "a vast armamentarium of dirty tricks," just like the regular tax code. Kept in Switzerland's renowned "Ant Lab" along with a similarly situated U.S. Immigration Code.

Venables's Guide to the British Legal System. Everything you need to know and no more. Excellent legal site. Laws of William the Conqueror, in which he abolished capital punishment and the international slave trade (or at least strictly regulated it in the public interest) and essentially created the vocation of trial lawyer by allowing the "infirm" to have others stand in for them in trials by battle and in the ordeal of hot iron, as well as by requiring warranties on all sales. According to Blackstone, it was at this juncture that our ancient constitution and common law began seriously to go to pot. About one page long, in modern English
Ius Romanum Roman law home page, with links to Roman law texts and literary works, including translations. This is a project of a law student at the University of Tuebingen who hopes to put all significant Roman law and medieval common law on the internet because he believes it will be useful in creating a common private law for the European community. He is looking for people to help type in or scan in essential texts, in any translation Legal Art: Nice pictures if you don't mind the accompanying advertising and having to follow several links.
