A Crouch Family Heritage Association Family Tree page

4 OSWELL BOWIE (son of 3 JOHN, 2 ABRAHAM, 1 JOHN BOYE) was born Abt. 1745, and died Abt. 1791 in Charles Co, Md. Oswell Bowie's wife was apparently named Mary Ann, maiden name unknown. She is listed in the Charles County Register of Wills (Administrative Accounts1791-1798). It lists the account of Mary Ann Bowie, the administrator of Oswell Bowie, late of Charles County. Oswell's sons Abraham and Isaac were mentioned in the first account dated February 1791. The second account was conducted in August of 1792, again by Mary Ann Bowie. This account mentions a crop of tobacco received of Abraham Bowie 1400 sterling and John Flurry( Flory ?) 750 sterling. Mary Ann Bowie conducted the final account in April of1793 as administrator.
[John Crouch note -- he was probably born a bit before 1745 if his son Abraham was b. ca. 1760. See below.]

Notes for ABRAHAM BOWIE: GRANDSON OF 2 ABRAHAM BOWIE (BOEY) AND ELDEST SON OF OSWELL BOWIE OF CHARLES COUNTY MARYLAND. HE APPARENTLY INHERITED "SENAH'S DELIGHT" SINCE HE WAS LISTED AS RESIDING ON HIS FARM, SENAH'S DELIGHT IN CHARLESCOUNTY. HE WAS LISTED AS A CONTRIBUTOR TO DURHAM CHURCH AND ALSO AS CLERK OF THE PARISH. HIS WIFE'S MAIDEN NAME IS NOT KNOWN.
[Palmer lists him as second child OF OSWELL. Genealogists' charts differ greatly on birth order. Also, it doesn't sound quite right for his father to be b. 1745 and him to be b. 1760 -- both dates must be very approximate. Most people's marriage ages in the 18th century were not that much different from ours -- especially propertied white males.]
