In the name of God amen: This twenty eight day of March one thousand eight hundred and eight, I Thomas Spruill of the County of Tyrell and State of North Carolina being in good health and perfect sound mind and memory thanks be to God for the same, therefore calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following.
I give and bequeath to my son Nathan Spruill the land and plantation whereon I now live with all the lands I possess, for which lands I have give him a deed being date 24th of August 1805 to him his heirs and assigns forever ---
I give and bequeath to my son Nathan Spruill one bed and furniture one cow two sows and pigs in the body and the house hogs to his heirs and assigns forever. I give and bequeath to the heirs of my daughter Anne Arrington one silver dollar to her and her heirs forever ---
I give and bequeath to the heirs of my daughter Fanny Bateman one silver dollar to her and her heirs forever. I give and bequeath to my daughter Mary Bateman one bed and furniture one linen wheel and one iron kettle one bason one peuter dish and one stear yearling which is now in her possession to her and her heirs forever. I give and bequeath unto my daughter Dorcas one bed and furniture one chest two chairs one pewter bason one pewter dish one cow yearling to her and hers forever. I give and bequeath to my daughter Sarah Hatfield one bed & furniture one linen wheel one pewter bason one pewter dish two chairs one cow named Cherry to her and her heirs forever. I give and bequeath to my beloved daughter Elizabeth Spruill one bed and furniture one linen wheel one large chest one woolen wheel one ocw heirfer one steer yearling one cow yearling unto her and her heirs and assigns forever ---
After all my just debts is paid I give and bequeath to my son Nathan Spruill all the remaining part of my land and swamp that is not already deeded to him with all the remaining part of my estate of every sort and kind whatso ever to him his heirs and assigns forever.
I do hereby constitute make ordain and appoint my son Nathan Spruill and my friend John Swain executors of this my last will and testament and I do hereby disallow revoke and disanul all and every other testament wills legacies and bequeaths or executors by me in any wise heretofore made retifying and confirming this and no other to be my last will and testament in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and date first above written.
