I Charles Spruill of the County aforesaid being very sick and low in flesh but in perfect sound mind & memory tanks be to God for the same do make and ordain this to be my last will & testament in manner following to wit:

First of all I resign my soul into the hands of Almighty God who gave it and my body to be buried in a Christian like manner at the discretion of my executors hereafter named.

I give and bequeath to my wife Mary Spruill the following negroes Viz: Lewis Daniel Fed Aft Alpred Black Nell George Big Belt Margaret Matilda one bay mare Chair & harness which Chair and harness she has in her possession also one third part of all my stock all furniture that she was possessed of when she come from Pungo also all the land and swamp that was hers lying on Pungo Creek Hyde County provided that the sd. Mary Spruill makes no fast demands on any of other lands acoda to former bargin.

I give & bequeath to Mary Anne England one negro woman by the name of Yellow Nell all the hogs that was called hers when she came to my house also two ews & lambs one cow called Daphne and her yearling also on third part of my manner plantation & woodland thereunto joining for & during her natural life or widdowhood.

I give & bequeath to my sister Elizabeth Cullipher five hundred dollars to be paid out of my estate.

I give & bequeath to Joanne Armstrong five hundred dollars.

I give & bequeath Zilpha Davenport five hundred dollars.

I give & bequeath to my brother Benjamin Spruill in trust for my sister Mary F. Spruill five hundred dollars.

I give & bequeath to the heirs of Josiah Spruill Viz: that is to say Uriah Spruill five hundred dollars likewise to Pheriba Spruill two hundred dollars.

I give to the heirs of Wm. Spruill that is to say Hesekiah Spruill five hundred dollars also Frederic Spruill five hundred dollars also to Sally Hatfield five hundred dollars to Fanny Phelps two hundred and fifty dollars.

My will and desire is that my other estate both real & personal except negro wench Rachael be sold at the discretion of my executors & the money arising therefrom to be equally divided among my other heirs not heretofore mentioned. I give my negro woman Rachael her freedom to be placed under the governship of my brother Benj. Spruill. I hereby nominate and apoint Benj. Spruill Ebenezer Pettigrew & Lonard Martin my sole executors to this my last will & testament disanuling & revoking all others but this to be my last will & testament in witness I have hereunto set my hd. & seal this 14th day of December in the year of our Lord 1814. Codicil: My will and desire the one third part of my manner plantation heretofore given to Mary Anne England should by any means be taken from her so that she cannot posses the same my desire is that she should have ten acres of land in any part of my Culipher Plantation & a convenient house to be built thereon for her during her natural life or widdowhood at the discretion of my executors this a codicil to this my last will & testament witness my hand & seal this 14th day of Decmr. 1814 Sealed in presence of us.
