The Tyrrell County Genealogical and Historical Society was founded in
1995. It holds regular meetings on the fourth Sunday of each month except
in November and December and when the fourth Sunday is a holiday. Meetings
are normally held at the Senior Citizens Center in Columbia, NC on Bridge Street
at 2:30 p.m. Meetings may occasionally be held at a site of historical or
genealogical interest, so be sure to check the newsletter or contact the Society
at the address below. Programs are planned for each meeting. The Society publishes a
newsletter on a monthly basis to inform members of business and upcoming
events. Queries may be submitted and material is sought for publication in
the newsletter. Journals are published on a semiannual basis and are
included in the membership fee. A list of members with an index of surnames
they are researching is also published annually and updated periodically.
The address of the Society is Tyrrell County Genealogical and Historical
Society, P.O. Box 686, Columbia, NC 27925. If you would like to become
