Dated 27 January 1812

In the name of God Amen: The 27th day of Jany 1812 I Frederic Davenport Ser. being sick but of perfect and sound disposing mind and memory do make and ordain this my last will and testament in form following.

Item - I give and bequeath to my beloved daughter Nancy Stubbs one Negro girl named Jane one bed and furniture, two cows and calves two ewes and lambs, one linnen wheel, one chest all the above property she has received but one cow and calf.

Item - I give and bequeath to my three beloved sons James Davenport, SamulDavenport and Geo. W. Davenport three hundred and ninety three acres of land more or less contained in eight deeds as follows viz: one from Peter Hines one hundred and fifty acres, from Andrew Oliver one hundred and thirty three acres, from Jesse Bateman thirty three acres from Thos. Smith seventeen half acres, from Samuel Chesson Co (?) twenty five acres, from Jno. Davenport son of Jacob twelve and half acres, from Jno. H. Fanning twelve half acres from Elisha Davis twelve 1/2 acres, from Hez. Arnold fifty acres, also ninety acres of land that I pattend, known by the name of Hog Island to them and their heirs forever; James part to be in the south part of the above lands his line to run eastwardly and westwardly across the whole of the within mentioned so as to make his equal proportion of the land, Samuel Davenports to join his brother James and run parallel for his equal part. Geo. W. Davenports part to run parallel with James and Samuels for his equal share and to contain the north side of the within mentioned lands to them and their heirs forever---

Item - I give and bequeath to my son James Davenport one negro boy named London, one mare Named Nancy one musket & one bead and furniture to him and his heirs forever.

Item - I give and bequeath to my son Samuel Davenport one negro boy named Isaac one bed and furniture and if he continues to stay and work with his mother till he attains to the age of twenty one years he is to have one horse three year old named Puck: if he leave his mother without her consent the said horse is to be sold with my other property.

Item - I give and bequeath to my son Geo. W. Davenport, one negro boy named Miles one bead and furniture the above Geo. and boy to stay with his mother till he attains to the age of twenty one years then to receive his property---

Item - I give to my son Wm. Davenport all my land cattle & bees over the Bay also one mare one negro girl named Rose One bead and furniture, one colt named Sir Buny one musket also all the land & swamp that I own on the south side of the bay that was formerly the property of Jesse Hatfield Ser. William Hatfield, Thos. H. Spruill Jos. Spruill and Stephen Spruil also all the land and swamp contained in my own patent near Deep Creek---

Item - I give and bequeath to my daughter Pamela Davenport one negro girl named Silbey one bed and furniture, two cows & calves, one chest, one linnen wheel, to be purchased out of my estate and two ewes and lambs to her and her heirs forever.

Item - I give and bequeath to my beloved son Frederic Davenport the plantation whereon I now live and all the land thereunto belongin, which lands are contained in on deed from James Davenport Ser. one part of fourteen acres laid by myself one deed from James Davenport of Elkanah, one divident that I recd. by the death of my brother James Davenport one deed from James Giles; but in case the child that my wife is now pregnant with is a boy, then I give and bequeath to said boy all the land containd in three last mentioned that is to say one deed from James Davenport of Elkanah, my dividend of the lands that I receivd by the death of my brother James and one deed from James Gyles provided that the child that my wife is pregnant with be a boy and attains to the age of twenty one years but should the said child if a boy die befor he attains to the above age of twentyone, then all the lands first given to my son Frederic Davenport I give to him his heirs and assigns forever.

Item - If the child my wife is now pregnant with shall be a girl, I give and bequeath to said child one negro worth one hundred and fifty dollars, one feather bed & furniture, two cows and calves, one linnen wheel and two ews and lambs if said child should attain to the age of twenty one years or marries, otherwise to return and be disposed of as my other estate---

Item - I give and bequeath to my son Frederic Davenport one negro worth one hundred and fifty dollars, one bead and furniture to him and his heirs forever---

Item - I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Joanah Davenport during her natural life or widowhood one negro woman namd Patt and at her decease I give said negro Patt to my son Frederic Davenport and his heirs forever. I also give to my beloved wife one bead and furniture two cows and calves, one linnen wheel one negro woman Lydia during her natural life to help maintain my young children George, Frederic and the child that my wife is now pregnant with said negro woman Lydia and all her increase from this time to be equally divided between them---

Item - I give to my beloved wife Joanna Davenport during her natural life the use of the land and plantation whereon I now live provided she does not marry, but if she should marry it is my will that she shall have one third part of the above mentioned land and plantation only during her natural life--

Item - I give to my son James Davenport ten dollars to help school him.

Item - I give to my son Samul Davenport ten dollars to help school him.

Item - I give to my son Wm. Davenport ten dollars to help school him.

Item - I give and bequeath to my daughter Pamela Davenport fifteen dollars to help school her---

Item - I give to my son Geo. W. Davenport thirty dollars to school him---

Item - I give to my son Frederic Davenport forty dollars to school him---

Item - I give to the child my wife is now pregnant with forty dollars to school it. It is my will and desire that all the residue and remainder of my estate be sold by my executors at six months credit and the money arising therefrom to be equally divided between my beloved wife Joanah Davenport my daughter Nancy Stubbs, my sons James Davenport, Wm. Davenport, Samul Davenport Geo. Davenport, Frederic Davenport and the child my wife is now pregnant with and each one to receive their part as they arrive to the age of twenty one years or marry and I hereby constitute and appoint my beloved wife Joanah Davenport executrix and my sons James Davenport Wm. Davenport and Samuel Davenport my executors of this my last will and testament. I hereby revoke all other wills legacies and bequest by me made, ratifying & confirming this and no other to be my last will and testament. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year first above written.

Then was the due execution of this paper writing proved by Frederic Davenport who proved the death and hand writing of Fredri Davenport decd. and also the death and hand writing of James Freeman Selby Spruill and Charles Spruill decd. whereon it is adjudgd by the court that the paper writing be admitted to probate as a will passing real and personal estate. Let it be registered
