In the name of God amen: I John Ansly of the State of North Carolina and in the County of Tyrrell being of sound and disposing mind and memory and though feeble in body knowing that it is appointed for all men do die and having a desire for to distribute my property among my lawful represnetatives, do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following.

Item - I give and bequeath my soul to God who gave it.

Item - My will and desire is that my beloved son Asa Ansly should have that part of the land that is known by the name of the Solomen Ansly tract.

Item - And my beloved son Noah Ansly to have that part of the land that my father Joseph Ansly purchased of William Tarkenton a part of the tract where Harmon Bateman now lives.

Item - My will and desire is that my beloved sons Enoch Ansly and William Ansly should have the land and plantation whereon I formerly lived, and the dividing line to begin at the road running the courses of the fence and garden to the swamp thence through the little Island thence running round the island westwardly to Pinners line and to the river giving all that part of the land lying northerly adjoining the lands of Asa and Noah Ansley to Enoch Ansly and that part of the land that lies to the southward to William Ansly including the house and gardin and that part of the plantation and woodland that lies to the southward of the dividing line. All the above land was given them by their grandfather Joseph Ansly -

Item - Also one negro man Jerry my will and desire is that he should be hired out untill my youngest son William Ansly comes to the age of twenty one years and then the said negro man Jerry to be sold and all the money arising from the hire and sale of said negro man Jerry to be equally divided amongs Asa, Noah, Enoch and William Ansly, which said negro man Jerry was also given by their grand father Joseph Ansly --

Item - I give and bequeath unto my son Asa, Noah, Enoch and William Ansly, fifty acres of swamp and one half of the threshing maching that was given unto them by my father but neither of my sons above mentioned shall have any right to sell or dispose of the aforesaid swamp and machine unless it is to one another of the four brothers ---

Item - My will and desire is that the two cows and their increase that was given to Asa, Noah, Enoch and William Ansly should be equally divided amongs them which was also given them by their grandfather. ---

Item - I give and bequeath unto my beloved son Enoch Ansley all my Carpenters tools of all sorts ---

Item - I give and bequeath unto my four sons Asa, Noah, Enoch and William Ansly two hundred and fifty acres of land on Riders Creek and fifty acres of Juniper Swamp being my part of the long Reach Swamp to them and their heirs forever ---

Item - I give unto my son William Ansly one small musket ---

Item - I give unto my son Enoch Ansly one small gun ---

Item - I give unto my son Noah Ansly one desk ---

Item - I give unto my son Asa Ansly on folling table and one watch ---

Item - My will and desire is that the residue of my estate consisting of crop stock and farming utensils and one bead to be sold by my executors and equally divided between my wife Zilpha Ansly and all my sons above mentioned, after a dection from the aforesaid Zilpha Anslys part the amount of property that I have heretofore given her consisting of one bead and furniture one sow and pigs one linnin wheel one large chest, one tea kettle and one loom and my will and desire is that my executors school my sons out of the above name property as far as is necessary ---

And I now constitute nominate and appoint Samul Davenport and David Clayton Esq. My executors. October the 24th day in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty eight. -

The will of Jno. Ansly was exhibited in open court and proved by the oaths of Danel Ansly
and George W. Davenport who swore that he was at the time of signing the same of perfect
and sound mind and memory. At the same time appeared David Clayton and qualified excutor
thereunto ---
