PATHOLOGICAL HATRED OF CLINTON Why have the right-wing extremists brought us to this national trauma of an impeachment trial? Only because they hate Bill Clinton. Their motive is pathological hatred of Bill Clinton. You never hear anyone say, "I love Bill Clinton, but I think he should be removed from office because he lied about sex." You never hear anyone say, "I love Bill Clinton, but I think he should be removed from office so we can set a good example for our children, or something." No. What you hear from them is, basically, "He's a no-good bastard, I think he should be kicked out, and maybe put in jail." Then they follow with some kind of rationalization for their hatred, such as the argument about lies under oath or example for children or sanctity of the courts. These rationalizations sound good and are quite praiseworthy in themselves. But they are not the MOTIVE behind the right-wing action. They are merely the intellectual cover for the emotion of hatred. They went looking for a reason to throw him out, any reason! If they had found out he had filed a questionable tax return, we would now be hearing speeches about the sanctity of the Internal Revenue Service. The particular reason doesn't matter to them, as long as there is some reason they can latch on to in support of their hatred. Why, then, do they hate him so much that they are they willing to subject our entire country to this needless trauma? Some people hate him because he is successful and attractive. They are jealous. Some people hate him because he successfully avoided being drafted for Vietnam and they did not. Some people hate him because they feel he might take away their money and give it to others less worthy than themselves. Some people hate him because he loves all kinds of people, not just people like themselves. Some people hate Clinton because he attracts women while they do not. Many people hate him simply because he seems to get away with too much compared to themselves. There are other motives for hatred of Clinton, but these are the main ones I have observed. So let us not be confused about the origins of this entire anti-Clinton effort: the origin is pure hatred, pathological hatred, of Bill Clinton. All of the other stated reasons are mere intellectual rationalizations for this hatred. # # # P. S. to my fellow Christians, who will know exactly what I mean: The Pharisees hated Jesus, too, then rationalized their hatred on various grounds, such as that He healed on the Sabbath in violation of the Law.
