           The Most Dangerous Election Result: One-Party Control

   Whether you are Democrat or Republican or something else, the one
   outcome you should fear the most in an election is that one party
   might get control of the Presidency and the House of Representatives
   and the Senate, all at the same time. Why? Because if any one party
   gets control of all three elected elements, its extremists suddenly
   exert a disproportionate influence on Party decisions, which then
   become National decisions. And the extremists in the other party have
   almost no influence whatsoever, because nobody needs their support for
   anything.  In general, this leads to bad policy all around because the
   extremists within the one controlling party will tend to control the
   National agenda.

   I myself am a long-time Democrat, but I shudder to think of total
   Democratic control.  Who would then restrain our wildest-eyed liberal
   anti-Capitalists, or the people who want to redistribute all the
   income downward.

   Likewise, I shudder to think of total Republican control. Who would
   then restrain the Mega-Capitalists, who truly believe that
   corporations should rule the world, unchalleneged and unchecked.

   No, the best policy for everyone is BALANCED POLITICAL CONTROL, in
   which no more than two of the three elected elements are controlled by
   the same party. Under these conditions, nobody is shut out. Everybody
   is heard.  All points of view are considered.  No clique can run
   roughshod over everybody else. And the resulting policies best reflect
   the will of the people.
