However, God wants Christian writers to keep creating new material suitable for each exact situation we face. All of this new material should be inspired by the Holy Spirit dwelling within us, and it should be consistent with and based on the Bible, God's revealed written Word for all mankind. "Then said he unto them, Therefore every scribe which is instructed unto the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which bringeth forth out of his treasure things new and old." (Matthew 13:52 KJV) In this passage, "every scribe which is instructed unto the kingdom of heaven" means "all Christian writers," that is, "all writers who have personal knowledge of the Holy Spirit." "A householder, which bringeth forth out of his treasure things new and old" means "a homeowner who brings out, to use, old things and new things from his storehouse." The "old things" are the writings we already have, mainly the Scriptures. The "new things" are new writings, our own new writings. The "treasure" or "storehouse" is the unending abundance of the Holy Spirit, Who is the source of both the old writings and the new. Since both the old writings and the new are given by the same source, the Holy Spirit, they should be consistent with each other, not contradicting. This passage, Matthew 13:52, provides the Scriptural authority for all Christian writing, and directs that the new should be consistent with the old and together with the old. These writings are some of the "pleasant fruits" mentioned in Song Of Solomon 7:13. " . . . and at our gates are all manner of pleasant fruits, new and old, which I have laid up for thee, O my beloved." (Song of Solomon 7:13 KJV) Bill McGinnis <>< bmcgin@patriot.net http://www.patriot.net/users/bmcgin/ministries.html To receive INTERNET DAILY CHAPEL each day by e-mail, please send your request to bmcgin@patriot.net.
