         A Theory Concerning The Evolution Of Manufactured Products
             "Random Fabrication And Survival Of The Latest"
   From The Viewpoint Of A Person Who Cannot See Human Beings Or Factories

   (This is a parody of Charles Darwins's "Theory Of Evolution")

Manufactured products first occurred on earth thousands of years ago.  The
earliest were known as "arrowheads."  Arrowheads were very primitive, made
of chipped stone, with irregular features.

From these simple beginnings, arrowheads have evolved into the bewildering
array of manufactured products we find on earth today, including automobiles
airplanes, and other complex forms.

Here's how this evolution occurred (and continues to occur!):

By a process known to us scientists as "Random Fabrication," the arrowheads
reproduced themselves, in slightly different forms, with random variation
of certain characteristics.  For instance, the size and shape of the 
arrowheads would vary randomly as a result of Random Fabrication.

As time went by, the earlier arrowheads stopped reproducing themselves,
and only the later arrowheads continued to reproduce.  This phenomenon is 
known as "Survival Of The Latest."  The anthropological record clearly
proves the truth of "Survival Of The Latest," for products have
consistently reproduced themselves based on their later, rather than 
earlier, forms.

During the process of Random Fabrication (which occurs continuously, we
find, in almost all manufactured products), there are occasional spontaneous 
bursts of greater randomness, called "Hyper-Random Fabrication."

Soon, Hyper-Random Fabrication caused the emergence of stone axe heads and
other stone products, then similar products made of bronze and other metals.
Once these processes began, they grew exponentially, resulting in more and
more manufactured products made of an ever-greater variety of materials.
But always the underlying pattern was the same: Random Fabrication followed
by Selection Of The Latest, followed by more Random Fabrication, etc.,
with occasional bursts of Hyper-Random Fabrication.

So this is how arrowheads evolved into airplanes and all the other 
manufactured products we find on earth today!
   
Some superstitious people might try to find a purpose behind
manufactured products.  They might actually imagine that some kind of
mythical "Intelligence" was somehow responsible for the "Design" of
these products. But, of course, that is rubbish, a position held only by
unenlightened beings of low intelligence.
