LESSON FOR CHILDREN: DON'T BE A HYPOCRITE!

   Some enemies of President Clinton have said that we need to remove him
   from office so that our children can see that only people of high
   moral character, such as themselves, should hold public office.
   
   The real lesson for our children, however, is this: DON'T BE A
   HYPOCRITE!
   
   What is a hypocrite? A hypocrite is someone who pretends to be of high
   moral character when he is not, or as my dictionary says, "one who
   affects virtues or qualities he does not have."
   
   Jesus criticized hypocrites more strongly than any other class of
   people! Hypocrites made Him crazy! Here is His classic statement on
   hypocrites . . .


                        MATTHEW 7:1-5 (RSV)

               "Judge not, that you be not judged.

               For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged,
               and the measure you give will be the measure you get.

               Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye,
               but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?

               Or how can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck
               out of your eye,' when there is the log in your own eye?
        5
               You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and
               then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your
               brother's eye.
