A small percentage of the population, perhaps 10%, has hated Bill Clinton from the start. Their hatred is emotional and irrational. Nothing he does will ever please them. 2. These same people, his hard-core enemies, want him out of office by any means possible. They have looked and looked for any way, no matter how vicious, to force him out of office. 3. Most people, however, like Bill Clinton and feel that he is the best available person to be President of The United States. That's why he has been elected President two times by the American people. The American people have shown clearly by their votes that they want Bill Clinton to be president. They recognize that Bill Clinton has a unique combination of high intellect, personal skills, and goodheartedness. He means well, and he is very capable. 4. His hard-core enemies, however, don't care what the American people want; they only care about what they themselves want, which is for Bill Clinton to be out of office, preferably in prison somewhere. 5. These hard-core enemies of Bill Clinton have been behind every single assault on his presidency, from the trumped-up Whitewater investigation to the Paula Jones case, to the present attempt to have him impeached. 6. Women are strongly attracted to Bill Clinton, and he is strongly attracted to them. This is his nature. He is a very sexual person. This is how God made him. Most of us are not burdened with his degree of sexuality. 7. Gleefully, his hard-core enemies seized upon the Paula Jones case as an opportunity to use Clinton's sexuality against him. "Let's trap him in court, and ask him a bunch of personal questions about his sex life. Then if he withholds anything, which he surely will do, we can say that he lied under oath and try to have him impeached!" Thus they transformed his perfectly legal personal behavior into a crime against the State. 8. Meanwhile, his enemies have spread the idea that he lied to the American people, and thus betrayed their trust, when he said that he never had a sexual relationship with Monica Lewinsky. Even many Clinton supporters have reluctantly agreed with this idea. BUT THIS IDEA IS NOT TRUE! Bill Clinton did not lie to the American people. What he said was that he did not have a sexual relationship with her. To have a "sexual relationship," you must have "sexual relations." The term "sexual relations" means precisely "coitus," that is, sexual intercourse, which they never did have! This is not "legal hair splitting." This is the dictionary definition of "sexual relations." Look it up yourself! In my dictionary it is on page 1079, Webster's Ninth New Collegiate Dictionary. It is listed a few words after the word "sexual." How can you say he lied when he followed the standard dictionary definition of the words? He deliberately avoided having sexual relations with her so that he could truthfully deny it if ever he were asked. 8. Their personal hatred for Clinton has blinded his enemies to the Constitution, which sets a very high and difficult standard for impeachment. Even if Bill Clinton did every single thing they accuse him of, it is still not enough to justify impeachment, by Constitutional standards. But his hard-core enemies don't care any more about the Constitution than they do about the will of the American people. They want Bill Clinton out of office, no matter what. They are just as willing to trash the Constitution as they are to nullify the will of the people. # # # Bill McGinnis bmcgin@patriot.net December 12, 1998 This document is in the Public Domain.
