HOW TO UNSUBSCRIBE
Before you are able to unsubscribe from deafintl, you must know
if you are subscribed to the "regular" version of deafintl (deafintl) or
if you are currently on the "digest" version (deafintl-digest).
The @waste.org computer treats these versions as separate lists
when handling requests for subscribing to or from deafintl so
make sure you follow the right set of directions!
"Regular" and "digest" deafintl--what's the difference?
In the regular version of deafintl, you receive each post as
soon as it is distributed to the list. If more than one post is made
on a given day then you receive several individual posts from deafintl
throughout the day. In the digest version, all deafintl posts are
saved for you each day and consolidated (put together) into one
long post. That means you only receive one longer e-mail message
each day with everyone's posts from that day included.
If you are on the digest version, then the name "deafintl-digest"
is always included in the subject line followed by a volume and
digest number such as "V1 #103" etc.
How to unsubcribe (leave) from deafintl
If you are reading this on the web, the easiest way for you
to unsubscribe from
deafintl is via the web at
http://www.waste.org/mail/deafintl.
If you are on deafintl-digest, make sure you mark the box labeled "digest"
when unsubscribing via the web. You may also unsubscribe from deafintl
via e-mail.
Unsubscribing from the "regular" version of deafintl
ALL emailed unsubscribe commands are sent to
waste@waste.org. If you are
currently subscribed to the REGULAR version of deafintl, you need
to send the following command in the BODY of your message:
unsubscribe deafintl your@e-mail.com
(substitute your actual e-mail address for "your@e-mail.com" above).
Unsubscribing from the "digest" version of deafintl
If you are currently subscribed to the DIGEST version of deafintl,
you need to send the following command in the BODY of your message:
unsubscribe deafintl-digest your@e-mail.com
(substitute your actual e-mail address for "your @e-mail.com" above).
Wait! You're not done yet!
After you e-mail your command to
waste@waste.org
the waste@waste.org computer will automatically send you an e-mail
message asking you to "authenticate" (confirm) your request to
unsubscribe. Follow the instructions in the message you receive to
finish unsubscribing yourself from deafintl.
Switching between "regular" and "digest" deafintl
If you are already subscribed to the "regular" version of deafintl
but you want to switch to the "digest" version then you need to
unsubscribe from the regular version (use this command:
unsubscribe deafintl) and subscribe to the
digest version (use this command: subscribe deafintl-digest).
If you are already subscribed to the "digest" version of deafintl
but you want to switch to the "regular" version then you need to
unsubscribe from the digest version (use this command:
unsubscribe deafintl-digest) and subscribe to
the regular version (use this command: subscribe deafintl). There
is no way to do this in one step; however, you can submit both commands
in the same e-mail message if you put each command on a separate line.
A few helpful tips
OR: Help! I tried to unsubscribe but it didn't work!
- Make sure you are unsubscribing from the right list!
The waste@waste.org computer treats the "regular" and "digest"
versions of deafintl as two separate lists. If you were on the
REGULAR version of deafintl then you need to follow the instructions
for unsubscribing from the "regular" deafintl. If you were on the
DIGEST version then you need to follow the instructions for
unsubscribing from "digest" deafintl.
- Remember to put all commands in the BODY of your e-mail.
Commands will NOT WORK in the subject line.
- Commands need to be e-mailed to
waste@waste.org. Do not get
this e-mail address mixed up with the addresses used for
posting to the list (deafintl@waste.org) or contacting
listowners (owner-deafintl@waste.org)! If you want more information
about the different e-mail addresses available for deafintl and
what each one does, see the page on
How E-mail Discussion Lists Work.
- waste@waste.org is a computer--NO HUMAN BEING reads the e-mail sent
to waste@waste.org. That means you need to send commands in exactly
the format shown in the instructions above, except for appropriate
substitutions, or they won't work.
- Remember that there are two steps in unsubscribing from deafintl.
First you need to send your unsubscribe command to
waste@waste.org. Next, you will automatically receive an e-mail
message asking you to "authenticate" (confirm) your request to
unsubscribe. You need to follow the instructions in the e-mail you
receive to finish unsubscribing yourself from deafintl.
- If you have any problems, please
contact one of the listowners. That's
what we're here for!
- If you had any problems with these instructions then I'd
like to know. I want to improve them and make life a little
easier for the next person trying to unsubscribe from deafintl.
