Posting Instructions
Before you make your first post to deafintl, please
CAREFULLY read BOTH the policy file
and the netiquette file. If you have
any questions about deafintl policies or about basic
"netiquette" rules, please
contact a listowner Thank you.
To make a post to deafintl, send your e-mail message to:
deafintl@waste.org
Send your post to deafintl in exactly the same way you send
any other e-mail message to any other e-mail address. Your post
will be automatically distributed to all the other deafintl
listmembers (subscribers) so they can read it. ALWAYS use
a subject line when you post!
If you think you know what you're doing, you can stop
reading here. The rest of this page is written for people
who are having problems posting to deafintl or who need
help for other reasons.
I'm new to deafintl. What should I do
before making my first post to the list?
All new deafintl members
should please read both the Deafintl
Netiquette file and the Deafintl
Policies file before making their first post to deafintl.
The word "netiquette" is used for etiquette rules used on
the Internet. If you have participated in other e-mail discussion
lists, UseNet News groups, chat rooms, or other on-line
discussion forums then many of the netiquette rules in the
deafintl netiquette file will already be familiar to you, but
a few were written specifically with deafintl in mind.
If you're new to participating in e-mail discussion lists,
you might find it helpful to read our page on
How E-mail Discussion Lists Work.
>
If this will be your first post, please introduce yourself to
the list and share why you decided to join deafintl and what you
hope to get from the list.
A few helpful tips
OR: Help! I tried to post but it didn't work!
- First, are you sure your post didn't get through to the
list? Once in a while people think their post
didn't make it only to find later that, umm ... it did.
Keep in mind that that it takes a little time for
each post to be distributed to the list. You may not
see your post appear on the list for at least a few minutes.
Occasionally you may need to wait a few hours. If you are
subscribed to the digest version then, depending on when you
tried to make your post, it may be as long as 24 hours
before you receive the digest with your post in it.
However, if you're still pretty sure your post REALLY
DIDN'T make it through to the list, keep reading.
- Are you sure that you are properly subscribed to
deafintl? Only people who are subscribed to deafintl are
able to post to the list. This is enforced by computer. Posts
from nonmembers are bounced from the list and forwarded to the
listowners for handling.
- Hint: All new listmembers automatically receive a copy of
the deafintl List Charter/Welcome Message through e-mail.
If you received a copy then you should now be able to make
posts to deafintl. If you didn't then your subscription
request has not yet been processed. Re-read the instructions
on subscribing yourself to
deafintl or contact a listowner
for help to figure out what might have gone wrong.
- Make sure you always post to deafintl from the same e-mail
address to which you are subscribed. Right now, there isn't a way
for people to receive posts at one address but send posts from
another. If for some reason you would like to do this, please
contact a listowner to discuss
your situation. No promises, but we'll see what we can do
for you.
- If you have just changed e-mail addresses, you need to
be successfully subscribed at your NEW e-mail address
before you will be able to post from that address.
- DO NOT POST TO THE WRONG ADDRESS! One of the most common
errors deafintl subscribers make is trying to post to the wrong
address. To POST to deafintl, use
deafintl@waste.org
To CONTACT A LISTOWNER, use
owner-deafintl@waste.org
Note that the address for contacting listOWNERS has the word
OWNER in it. That should make it easy to remember! For more
details on the different e-mail addresses available for
deafintl, see the page on How E-mail Discussion
Lists Work.
- If all elese fails, please do contact a listowner
at owner-deafintl@waste.org
for help. That's what we're here for!
