Le Sport, Novembre 1637

Administrative matters:

Orders for Novembre 1637 are due to me by Wednesday .
Send orders to: aquazoo(at)patriot(dot)net

New item: "interaction". This is the GM's option to add or subtract SPs on the basis of the interaction between characters on the All_of_Paris list. Correspondence on the list is where the PCs form friendships and alliances, and (in my opinion) is vital for fleshing out the game and making it more than die rolls and numbers. Thank you to those who have posted in the past couple weeks, and for everyone else you still have a few days to speak up!

Please put your character name in the subject line. Do not send orders as an attachment. If in Paris, be sure to include dueling routines in your orders. Don't send your entire character sheet - I already have it. Please DO send any speeches, roleplay, etc to be included in the turn writeup. I can't invent everything!
Thanks!

Justice News ===========================================================

The acting Commissioner of Public Safety, Baron Francois Pied dans la Bouche, has set a trial date of November 1 (pre-monthly) to determine if the brevet Captain Beaufort de Beaumont had anything to do with the unfortunate death of Louis-Yves Desacroix. Any gentlemen wishing to present evidence or make a statement either in favor or against the defendant are welcome to appear in court or send a letter of statement to be read in court. (PCs are welcome to make statements regardless of whether or not they wish to influence to the outcome. Using influence would be kind of silly since the Minister of State is a PC, Duc Achilles Martin Legris.)

The case as announced last month:
The Comissioner of Public Safety has announced that a murder most fouls has been committed. The body of Msr. Louis-Yves Desacroix, a Lt Colonel in the Grand Duke Max Dragoons, was found in the foyer of his abode. From the appearance of the room, it appears that some ruffians must have broken into Msr. Desacroix's abode in an attempt to rob him. The ensuing fight was apparently hampered by some severe wounds earned by the Lt Colonel in a duel earlier in the month. In the end, the ruffians apparently overwhelmed Msr. Desacroix. Several letters requesting a duel were found at Msr. Desacroix's feet.

Theatre offering =======================================================

Le Theatre de Sois presents: "Petit Mademoiselle Lumière du Soleil", reported to be a comedy about a family who travels across the countryside with a young daughter.

Military Announcements =================================================

Errata: It was brevet Captain Marcel Laisse who served at the front, not bBG Duc Legris as mentioned in the report earlier. The editor offers his humblest apologies for the error and commends Captain Laisse on his outstanding performance.

------------------------------------

It is with a heavy heart that his grace, Achilles Martin Legris, Minister of State, resigns his position as Colonel of the Dragoon Guards.

"I came up through the ranks in His Majesty's cavalry, and will always remember fondly my time in the saddle. The view of a battlefield from horseback is most extraordinary."

His grace notes there are many opportunities for the gentlemen of Paris to serve His Majesty, and hopes that all those seeking glory and fortune find what they are looking for to the greater benefit of France.

General Announcements ==================================================

Major Pierre is looking to start a real estate cooperative. Parties interested in discounted housing or investment opportunities, please contact him. Shares in this enterprise are 20 crowns a share and current housing may be traded in for shares at market prices. Results paid quarterly.

Parties and Events =====================================================

To All The Gentlefolk of Paris:

It is with great joy that Major Henri de Treville of the King's Musketeers announces the birth of his son, Jean-Paul. The boy's lovely mother, Hyacinthe, is doing quite well after the ordeal.

Major de Treville would like to invite all of Paris to the grand debut of the child during the second week of Novembre. As he has promised his wife that no blood will be spilled in the house, he says that any disagreement between gentlemen must be settled in the garden. And he hopes that none of any discussions result in only dignity lost, rather than lives.

So please, come one, come all, to the Chateau de Treville to meet the future Grand Marshal of the Armies of France, Jean-Paul de Treville.

With Great Pride,
Major Henri de Treville
King's Musketeer

------------------------------------

A funeral shall be held for Louis Yves Desacroix in the second week of Novembre. Soldiers, friends and loved ones are invited to pay final respects at the Cathedral of Notre Dame.

By my hand,
Cardinal Richelieu
