How To Resist Demonic Attack

It is the experience of many Christians that if you disturb Satan or start to be successful against him in some way, he will launch an attack of some sort against you, to try to stop your efforts.

Do not be startled or discouraged if this happens to you. The Lord has provided ample means for us to triumph over Satan.

Here is what I recommend. This is taken from a letter I wrote to someone under attack from Satan . . .

As long as we just sit in the corner and sing songs to ourselves, we do not threaten Satan and he does not need to attack. But as soon as we actually do something to interfere with him, He tries to stop us. So the fact that he's attacking you means that you are doing something important against him. Congratulations!

Now it is possible for you to get drawn into a continuous round of skirmishing with Satan, putting on this armor and that, invoking various "warrior angels," battling him here and there, like a one-armed paper hanger swatting flies. This is very distracting for you, and it is exactly what Satan wants you to do.

He has been going against me lately, too, as I have been expanding my efforts into deliverance.

Here's how I am dealing with him. The encounter goes something like this:

First, I recognize an attack for what it is and call on the Lord to renew and refresh the authority over unclean spirits that He has given to me (and to you) as a true disciple of His. (Please see http://patriot.net/users/bmcgin/authorityoverdemons.html)

Then, I speak directly to Satan, not bothering with any of his stooges, and cheerfully admit to all the terrible things he accuses me of. "Yes, Satan, I am a sinner, one of the worst! The truth is that I am guilty of almost anything you can name. By myself, I am nothing but a filthy evil person, doomed to hell, and rightfully so. However, I am not by myself! I love the Lord Jesus Christ, and I have given myself to Him. Therefore, His blood cleanses me from all sin, and I am spotless in His sight, as scripture says . . . 

            ' . . . and the blood of Jesus Christ his son
            cleanseth us from all sin.' (1 John 1:7 KJV)
"Moreover, I forgive everyone of all their trespasses against me, so He forgives me all of my trespasses against Him, as scripture says . . . 
        ' . . . forgive, and ye shall be forgiven.' (Luke 6:37 KJV)
"Therefore, He continues to forgive me, even as I continue to sin. So you, Satan, have no power over me. The fact is, I have power over you and all other unclean spirits, as scripture says . . . 
     'Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and
      scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and 
      nothing shall by any means hurt you.' (Luke 10:19 KJV)
"So, in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, and by the authority He has given to me, I command you to go away and leave me alone. And take all of your little workers with you back to hell, where you all belong."

Something along this line should take care of the problem. As scripture says . . . 
    " . . . Resist the devil, and he will flee from you."
