There is one God, the God of the Bible, Who created the universe. 2. As part of His universe, He created matter, and the elegant laws of physics which govern its operation. 3. Through these laws of physics, operating on original matter, He created the material universe, with stars and planets, as it now exists. 4. Breathing spirit into matter, God created life on earth, in all its myriad forms, culminating in man, His highest creation on the earth. 5. The Biblical account of Creation is true and correct, with the understanding that it was written for pre-scientific people, and God used poetic imagery to communicate His ideas. Since human time has no meaning to God, the six-day Creation described in Genesis does not mean six 24-hour days as we know them, but rather six periods of time. 6. The word "evolution" refers to genetic changes in life forms over time, resulting in outward changes of these life forms. The record of evolution of species is the record of God's handiwork in creating His desired life forms. 7. The "theory of evolution" refers to a process of genetic change in organisms, followed by natural selection among these organisms, resulting in certain changes in the population of these organisms. Thus, moth populations have changed color, and other similar events have been observed scientifically. This process was created by God, to accomplish the continuous "fine tuning" of His created beings into their environments. 8. The theory of evolution, however, does not explain the origin of life, which was accomplished by God, himself, according to His will. 9. Although it can be shown that life forms changed over time in an evolutionary way, resulting in the different species of life we see today, these major changes were caused and directed by God, Himself, during His time of Creation, and not by the process of genetic change and natural selection known as theory of evolution. 10. The purpose of God's Creation on earth is to set the stage for man, created in His image, to rule and control the earth. Written 1996 by William E.
